Roof
The two-tiered temple is a structure with two gilded roofs. It is endowed with hundreds of intricate metal and works of art, each with its own symbolic meaning.
The center of the roof piece at the top of the lower roof is a double vajra known as the (Vishwo vajra) and it is flanked by (kalash) on each side. It represents the strength of the void i.e. Shunyata. At the bottom right at the edge of the roof ,is a small Bodhisattva figure. On inspecting the roof of the Janabahā temple, in the past authentic material “Jhingati” tiles were replaced by gold gilded metal roofs.
The temple of Janabaha Dyo in Kanak Chaitya Mahavihar is the only temple to have the ornate banners right round the roofs, as far as we know. And that gives this temple its distinctive appearance also known as Halampaus.
